2011 Resolutions

Dec 31, 2010
Read at least 50 books
I'm usually a pretty diligent reader but this year I did hardly any reading at all. I always ended up "cheating" on my current read with another book and needless to say, it never ended well.
Read more books by debut authors
Earlier this year, upon starting this blog, I realized that I am seriously behind. A lot of the books I own are from "ancient times" and some of the books that I bought earlier in 2010 probably would have been considered old then too (not that there's anything wrong with that). :)
Be more consistent with my blogging
If you've visited this blog before you might have noticed that I deleted all of my old posts,  my only blogging goal as of 2011 is to post more in a more consistent pattern.
Interact with other bloggers
This one is really something I need to start getting into. I do read all of the blogs that I follow and I enjoy discovering new blogs, but I don't always comment.
Write a little everyday
One thing that I've learned in 2010 is that I personally have a greater chance of losing interest in a project if I stay away from it for too long. By writing a small amount everyday I am bringing myself closer to my goal without the feeling of exhaustion.
Never give up
Earlier in 2010 I stared a new project that I was completely in love with. I loved everything about my new main character, her voice, her flaws, everything. When Nano came around the idea that I had for it excited me but I couldn't get the voice quite right. I mean, it sounded okay in my head but it just didn't translate well once typed. Now, I'm bringing in the new year with a new wip as well as two incomplete ones. 2011 will be the year I complete a novel even if it never sees the light of day.

2010 was an okay year for me, better than the last, but nowhere near what I'm  hoping 2011 will be like.

Have A Happy New Year!

A Fresh Start and the Best of the Best of 2010

Dec 30, 2010
I've been brainstorming long and hard, trying to figure out which direction I want this blog to go in and after some careful thought I've decided to start off with a clean slate. So as of 2011 I will be using this blog solely as a scrapbook for things that inspire me as a writer, books, movies, music, writing in general, and once in a while a post or two about my writing. To bring in the new year here are my picks for the best of the best of 2010.

Best New Series Of 2010
 The Walking Dead

I can't begin to tell you just how excited I was when I found out that there was going to be a zombie themed television series premiering on AMC. Although the first season was fairly short and fans of the show will have to wait until October for season two, the producers of this show have obviously seen their fair share of zombie movies. They did not skimp out on the gore.

Best Season Of An "Old" Series
Vampire Diaries

OMG. Was I the only one who was screaming at the television when Damon made that stupid mistake of messing with that werewolf. He definitely looses some points in my book for that and poor Tyler, I'm so rooting for him and Caroline.

But if Damon keeps putting him and his friends in danger like that, I'm going to have to reach through the screen and shake him.

Best Movie Of 2010
Shutter Island

This movie made me fall in love with Mr. DiCaprio all over again. Everything from the setting to the acting was perfect. When it was over I still didn't know what to believe. Shutter Island definitely wins for best twist  I didn't see coming. Bravo.

Best Album Released In 2010
Corinne Bailey Rae - The Sea

I remember listening to the whole album on YouTube and thinking why in the hell am I just discovering this womans music. She's that good and what I like about her is that she doesn't disappoint, every song is worth listening to. And she has amazing hair.

Best Single of 2010
The Black Keys - Tighten Up

Just listen for yourself. I also really like Rhianna's Only Girl (In The World), Kanye West's Runaway, and Katy Perry's Teenage Dream.

Best YouTube Clip

Cute, furry, and not to mention hilarious.
