I've submitted my 2015 NaNo novel to Swoon Reads.
It was just last month I said I didn't know what to do with this story. After dusting it off and rereading it, I decided that it wasn't so bad after all. I'll let you guys in on a little secret, one of my inspirations for writing this story was Swoon Reads. For NaNo last year, I wanted to write a story that was light, fluffy, and a ton of fun. I think that's what I have in my witchy YA novel.
If you aren't familiar with Swoon Reads, they publish young adult and new adult romance novels. Writers can submit their stories to the site for a chance to be published. Readers can also rate and comment on those stories. I think it's a wonderful opportunity, and I'm so glad I took the plunge.
So without further ado, here is my witchy YA. If you're interested, stop by A Magical Misfortune's page and let me know what you think.
Cora Emerson is a magical misfortune who just can't get the hang of being a wicked sorceress. Being wicked would be easy if she couldn't help being good instead. But her eighteenth birthday is fast approaching, and if she can't ruin one person's life by then, she'll lose her powers for good, bringing dishonor to her family's name.
Just when she thinks she's found the perfect victim, naive and unassuming, the unthinkable happens. She falls for him. Love and magic would be simple if the person whose life she's meant to ruin wasn't her boyfriend.
As Cora would say, "For the love of Jupiter."
